Age Group: 10 years min. Exceptions are possible, must be approved by executive.
Engine: Max 18hp OEM rated or 40ci horizontal or vertical shaft engines. Engines must be of lawn tractor origin. Strictly no modifications to the engines allowed. Governed rpm 3650
Fuel pump: No electric fuel pumps allowed. Must be OEM vacuum or mechanical fuel pumps.
Fuel: Pump gas is the only fuel acceptable.
Drive train: Open to live axle or transaxle, chain or belt drive, transmission or RAGB (right angle gear box) for vertical shaft engines. Centrifugal clutches are recommended. No torque converter type progressive snowmobile clutches allowed. Where drive train is exposed to driver it must be covered up.
Chain Guards: All chain guards are mandatory and must be made from 1/8” aluminum or steel. The rear chain must have an addition safety loop (from side to side not front to back following the chain) on horizontal shaft mowers to prevent a whipping effect in the event of a chain failure under power.
Steering: Direct steering is mandatory. Alternate steering methods must pass critical tech inspection. No plastic steering wheels unless it is reinforced with steel. No handlebars, to prevent driver from being pierced in the event of a rollover.
Wheelbase and max width: Min wheelbase is 42”, max width is 42” measured with a Go/No Go gauge. Tire side wall may stick out past the rim or rim may be the widest point, if the 42” gauge fits over your machine it is legal.
Frame: It is recommended that safety shields are in place between engine and driver or stock dash cowl. Scalloping of tunnel type frame allowed to get the seat down lower. Discreet chassis modifications allowed for axle installation. Minimum ride height is 2”.
Brakes: Hydraulic brakes mandatory. No front brakes.
Wheels: Aluminum race wheels or steel wheels with hubs only. Max 8” diameter rear rims and Max 6” diameter front rims to reduce climbing.
Tires: Commercially available Turf type tires mandatory. No race tires, paddle tires or snow hog tires.
Bumpers: Front and rear closed loop bumpers are mandatory. Width cannot be greater than rear tires. It is recommended to lay the bumper back 20 degrees when installing to prevent climbing. Front bumper cannot be more than 2” ahead of hood or front tires whatever protrudes ahead the farthest. Front bumpers cannot cover up front tires.
Side crash bars: Left and right side crash bar mandatory, must be flush or inboard of wheels no more 1.5” front outside. Crash bars must be filled in enough on the sides so driver’s foot cannot get caught in the event of a roll over.
Body/Hood: Hood and fenders can be home made but must resemble a lawn tractor. NO SHARP EDGES! Sharp edges are a hazard in the event of a roll over on homemade panels/spoilers.
